Tofu Burger

A delicious and nutritious vegan burger

Instructions

  1. Thaw out the tofu and slice each block into burger-sized slices
  2. Place the slices on a shallow baking tray and cover with a couple of clean tea towels, on top of which, place another baking tray. Place something heavy (e.g. some weights) on top of the tray so that the tofu is pressed and leave for 15-20 minutes to prepare for marination. Some water should drain from the tofu
  3. In a bowl, mix together the water, soy sauce, ketchup, Marmite, garlic granules, dried oregano, dried basil and onion powder and then pour over the tofu slices, before marinating in the fridge overnight
  4. Add the oil to a frying pan on medium-high heat and cook the marinated tofu until browned on both sides
  5. Serve with tomato, lettuce and pickled cucumber in a burger bun
