Super-callaloo-ilistic-expialidocious!

Posted on

You may have eaten it as a side dish in a hearty Jamaican meal, cooked with onions, garlic, thyme and fiery scotch bonnet peppers, or perhaps tasted it in a warming West Indian pepperpot soup. For many years, it remained a secret of the Caribbean and South American communities, but food-lovers worldwide are discovering callaloo, and its popularity is rocketing as plant-based living and adventurous cooking become increasingly widespread.

Tropical Sun Callaloo is hand-picked and prepared with love by our skilled team in Central Village, Jamaica. Tinned within moments of being chopped, it preserved the natural way: through blanching and a dash of salt. It contains no artificial flavours, colours or preservatives whatsoever, which is why Tropical Sun is the callaloo of choice for so many Caribbean restaurants.

We’re so proud of our callaloo that we produced a short video about it. We’d love to know what you think, so please watch, comment and share!

A wonderfully quick and easy way to include vibrant, green, leafy veg in your diet, callaloo can be prepared within minutes. Most of the recipes available online are written for countries where callaloo grows locally, but for those of us in the UK and lands where callaloo is not indigenous, we are developing some incredible recipes that will go online in the coming weeks.

If you’ve not tried callaloo and want to see what all the fuss is about, then we're offering you 20% off your first order of this wonderful leafy vegetable! Click the image below to automatically add the discount to your basket, or use the code CALLALOO at the checkout to receive 20% off our 280g and/ or 540g tins!

With love,

The Tropical Sun Family
