Tropical Sun Gari - 'Do Not Eat Raw' Packaging Error

Posted on

In March of 2019, we received an email from a customer expressing concerns about our gari, primarily that the packaging featured the phrase ‘do not eat raw’, which was at odds with the product itself, which is pre-cooked and can be eaten straight from the pack or used as a cooking ingredient.

The issue, which was entirely our mistake, resulted from a printing error, where the gari packaging design was printed onto generic bags that featured the phrase ‘do not eat raw’, intended for other foods such as rice and dry beans, which cannot be eaten raw.

A few days after the email exchange with the customer, a video was circulated online highlighting the same issue, but with a number of additional mistaken assertions being made about the gari. This video was forwarded to us by a number of our customers, prompting us to make a video response to address any concerns that may have arisen. You can watch the video below.

Tropical Sun offers three types of Gari: White, Yellow and Ijebu. These are all made in West Africa from the highest quality cassava, containing absolutely no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives.

As a winner of 19 Great Taste Awards, we’re proud that our gari is considered the gold standard. If you’ve not tried it yet, you can get 50% off from TropicalSunFoods.com. Simply click on this link before you shop to automatically add the discount to your basket, or enter the code GARI at the checkout. Offer ends March 28th 2019.

We are truly sorry for our mistakes and hope this blog and video will have cleared up any concerns. If you have any questions or feedback, you can reach us through our contact page.

Thank you for listening. If you know anyone who may have been affected by this issue, please pass them a link to this blog so that they can enjoy their Gari to the fullest.

With love,

The Tropical Sun Family
